LOU BONE was elected to the Tustin City Council in 2000 and 2004 and served as Mayor in 2005 and again in 2007.

Councilmember Bone currently serves on the board of the Orange County League of Cities.  He is a member of the Orange County Council of Governments, serving as Chair in 2004.  He is an active member of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) serving as a Regional Council Member.  Councilmember Bone also serves on SCAG’s Transportation Policy Committee, Goods Movement Task Force Committee, Audit and Best Practices Oversight Subcommittee, Contract Review Committee, and Chair of the Maglev Task Force.  He serves on the Southern California Regional Rail Authority Board (Metrolink) and Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency (LOSSAN) as an Ex-Officio Member representing the six counties of SCAG.  Councilmember Bone also represents all the cities of Orange County on the California State League of Cities’ Transportation, Communication and Public Works Policy Committee.  Councilmember Bone was recently elected by the Tustin City Council to serve on the Board of the Orange County Vector Control District. 

Councilmember Bone has been active in civic and business leadership activities for many years.  He has served as President of the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Tustin Planning Commission, Chair of the Tustin Community Development Block Grant Program, Chair and Founding Member of Tustin Pride Committee, member of the Tustin License and Permit Board, Tustin Economic Development Council, Tustin Base Closure Task Force, South Coast Air Quality Management District Ad Hoc Committee and is currently a member of the Tustin Street Fair and Chili Cook-off Committee. 

For his community and business service, Councilmember Bone has received several awards, including Tustin Area Man of the Year, California Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Advocate of the Year, Sales and Marketing Executives of Los Angeles’s Honor, Merit and President Awards, and the California Secretary of State’s Ingenuity in Business Award.  He was recently honored for his years of public service by Congressman John Campbell, who paid tribute to Mayor Bone by reading his accomplishments into the Congressional Record on the floor of the Congress.  

A second-generation Californian, Councilmember Bone retired in December of 2000 from a business career, which included the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer for PIA Merchandising Company and owner and President of XL Lock, Inc.
