REBECCA “BECKIE” GOMEZ was elected to the City Council in 2010. Beckie and her husband, John McKeon have made Tustin their home since 1988.
Beckie represents the City of Tustin on the Senior Advisory Board, the Santa Ana River Flood Agency (SARFA) and the Orange County Library Advisory Board. Council Member Gomez also serves as an alternate for the Southern California Association of Governments and the Water Advisory Committee of Orange County. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee and the Services and Operations Committee for the OC Library Advisory Board.
Beckie has been actively involved in many community and professional organizations. She is currently the 2011-2012 President of the Greater Orange County Health Information Association. Beckie has previously served as the President, Tustin Public Schools Foundation; President, Tustin South Bobby Sox; President Tustin High School Academic Boosters; President, TUSD Coordinating Council; President, Thorman Elementary PTO and President, Currie Middle School PTA. She has also been on the Board of Directors for Tustin Girls Softball, Nelson PTA, Tustin Meadows Tiny Tots and the Orange County Women’s Soccer League. Beckie has been a long time youth coach in Tustin South Bobby Sox, Tustin Girls Softball, AYSO and NJB.
Beckie has held various management and consulting positions in hospitals, ambulatory clinics and a national home health agency. She is a past recipient of the William Olsten Award for Excellence in Records Management and the Core Values Winner for “Commitment to our Shareholders” from Tokos Medical Corporation. Beckie is currently a professor in the Health Information Technology Program and the Staff Development Coordinator at Cypress College.
Beckie received her Bachelor of Science degree from the UCLA School of Public Health, a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Long Beach State University and a Master of Arts degree in Sports Fitness and Management from the University of San Francisco.
Beckie and John have three children. They attended Thorman and Nelson elementary schools, Currie Middle School and Tustin High School. Her sons are Cal State Fullerton and Sonoma State University graduates and her daughter recently graduated from Stanford University.
