Late last night the City received approval from South Coast AQMD for a certified abatement company to immediately begin the remediation process of collecting potentialyl contaminated materials from the hangar fire within the public right-of-way affected areas.
Beginning this morning at approximately 8 am, November 12th, a team of trained, certified asbestos professionals from ATI, wearing white suits and respirators will be working in the area north of the hangar.
There will likely be temporary road closures throughout the area while the clean-up process occurs. Please refrain from interacting with the workers while they are operating in the area. We will keep you updated as the progress continues.
While the operation on November 12th will be the first phase of a multipronged approach starting in the public rights-of-way, further phases will include parks, schools, and residences.
We encourage our community members to call (714) 937-0750 and report any suspected contaminated materials to our contracted certified asbestos consultant (Envirocheck) that they observe within the City of Tustin. Envirocheck will conduct an inspection and assessment for further action for removal by a certified asbestos professional company, ATI.
