[ARCHIVED] Governor Releases California's Roadmap to Pandemic Resilience

Earlier this week, Governor Newsom provided an update on California’s Roadmap to Pandemic Resilience, which outlines how the State is planning its path forward and includes indicators for modifying the Stay-at-Home Order in the future. The second stage of the four-stage Roadmap, looks toward the re-opening of lower risk workplaces for those who cannot work from home, with adaptations for enhanced sanitization and social distancing practices.

Governor Newsom did not provide a specific timeline for when the state’s economy will begin reopening or when the restrictions that were put in place on March 19, 2020 requiring everyone in California to stay home, except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of certain “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers” like critical government services, schools, childcare for employees of the critical sectors and construction will be changed or lifted.  The Governor stated we are still in Stage One, so businesses that are not part of the “Essential Critical Infrastructure” are still not allowed to open up at this time, however, Governor Newsom stated the he looks toward easing portions of the statewide stay-at-home orders and moving to Stage Two within the next few weeks versus months.

The Governor’s Order remains in effect until further notice so all residents must continue to stay at home except for those who are employees in the critical sectors as identified by the State.

The Governor’s order allows people to leave home for food, prescriptions and health care while adhering to social distancing of at least 6 feet from others.

In addition, the County of Orange Board of Supervisors released business guidelines this week, to put in place strategies and procedures for businesses to begin planning for a re-opening once the Governor’s existing order is changed or lifted and Stage Two begins.
