Tustin PD responded to the 13000 block of Tustin East Drive to assist OC Probation with the apprehension of a probationer. Upon contacting the resident, we learned that a second suspect, 34 year-old Jorge Aguilar had retreated and barricaded himself in the apartment. A records check of Aguilar revealed that he had a $100,000 felony warrant for possession of a firearm and explosives. After speaking with family members we also learned that Aguilar was likely armed wi...th a handgun and made statements related to the fact that he would never go back to prison. We quickly surrounded the residence and activated our joint Irvine PD/Tustin PD SWAT Team. After surrounding the residence, evacuating nearby residents, and deploying our Crisis Negotiators, Aguilar peacefully surrendered after the hour long standoff. After arresting Aguilar and searching the apartment, we located the loaded handgun that Aguilar was in possession of.
