Fire Hazard Severity Zone

On March 24, 2025, The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the Office of the State Fire Marshall (OSFM) released the 2025 Local Responsibility Area (LRA) Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) Maps for Southern California.

These maps were updated to more accurately reflect the zones in California that are susceptible to wildfire and measure the "hazard" level. "Hazard" is based on the physical conditions that create a likelihood and expected fire behavior over a 30 to 50-year period without considering mitigation measures such as home hardening, recent wildfires, or fuel reduction efforts. The map does not evaluate "risk." "Risk" is the potential damage a fire can do to the area under existing conditions, accounting for any modifications such as fuel reduction projects, defensible space, and ignition resistant building construction.

The CAL FIRE City of Tustin Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map designates portions of city to be within Very High, High, and Moderate Fire Hazard Severity Zones. To see if your property is within one of the zones, please visit CAL FIRE's Fire Hazard Severity Zone Viewer
