Rookie of the Year

This renowned award is earned by an individual who, within the first year and a half as a police officer in the Tustin Police Department, has shown exceptional performance and distinguished service after successfully completing the FTO program, and has proven their dedication to the organization through work ethic, positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to go above and beyond.

Explorer of the Year

This honor is awarded to an Explorer who has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the Tustin Police Explorer Post, through the highest of ethics, professionalism, leadership and volunteerism.

Cadet of the Year

This honor is awarded to a Police Cadet within the Tustin Police Department who displays outstanding work habits and exemplary performance, contributes a valuable service to the police department through volunteerism, possesses a positive attitude, and demonstrates an eagerness to further enhance their law enforcement career.

Volunteer of the Year

This distinguished award is earned by a volunteer based upon their performance and dedication to the department as well as the volunteer program. Another notable attribute would be their ability to work with all members of the department and the community.

Reserve Officer of the Year

The recipient of this award is a reserve officer who has exceeded the duty requirements expected of their position by demonstrating exemplary performance of police work. Additionally, this officer gives more of themselves than asked, and will often make sacrifices to the greater good of the community and organization

Community Policing Award

This distinguished honor will be bestowed upon a community member who has worked toward improving his/her community in conjunction with the Community Governance Philosophy. This accomplishment can reflect a single incident or an ongoing series of actions to better the Tustin Community.

Case of the Year

This award is earned by a member or members of the Tustin Police Department who, through exceptional investigative skills and a tenacity or teamwork, solved a crime(s)/crime trend(s) extending above and beyond the normal call of duty or service, which reflects great credit upon them and upholds the highest traditions of the Tustin Police Department.

Supervisor of the Year

This distinguished award acknowledges an outstanding supervisor who exemplifies the mission, values, and vision of the Tustin Police Department, and whose leadership has had a profound impact on our agency and our employees.

Dedication & Professionalism

This employee exemplifies the highest ideals of dedication and professionalism with exceptional work ethic, unquestioned integrity, humility, leadership, and command of skill set. This is accomplished by the employee's continued focus on personal and professional growth, on the way they present themselves, and the way they interact with peers and the community by way of social awareness, etiquette, and communication skills. Along with this, the employee shows constant loyalty to the mission of the agency, and puts the needs of the agency above that of their own while consistently displaying a positive attitude.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a member or retired member of the department who exemplifies the true spirit of “Service to the Community” through his or her ongoing actions. The award exemplifies service above and beyond what is expected in areas of technical skill, significant contributions to the community, agency, and profession.

Officer of the Year

The recipient of this award is an officer who has exceeded the duty requirements expected of their position by demonstrating exemplary performance in police work. Additionally, this officer is of high moral character, inspires others by employing proactive leadership, and is dedicated to improving the quality of life within the community. Moreover, the officer gives more than asked, and will often make sacrifices to the greater good without hesitation.
