Fees

WHAT COSTS ARE YOU REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A TUSTIN BUSINESS LICENSE?

Business license fees start at $25. Your costs will be based on gross receipts and the type of business you plan to conduct. Your business license fees are due annually and are valid from January 1 through December 31. Your business license fees will be prorated if you are opening your business after April 1. Here is a breakdown of all Business License fees.

Once obtained, a business license renewal will automatically be forwarded to your mailing address approximately six weeks prior to the expiration date.

State Mandated Fee

On October 11, 2017, Governor Brown signed into law AB 1379, which adds a state fee of $4 on any applicant for a local business license or similar instrument or permit, or renewal thereof. The purpose is to increase disability access and compliance with construction-related accessibility requirements and to develop educational resources for businesses in order to facilitate compliance with federal and state disability laws, as specified.

Renewing your license

Businesses located in, or operating in, the City of Tustin are required to renew their business license annually.  Business licenses are issued for the calendar year, which commences on January 1st and ends on December 31st of each year.

View the renewing your business license page for more information.

PENALTIES

Failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve the business owner's responsibility in renewing the business license. Failure to pay the license tax when due will result in a penalty of 25% of such license tax on the last day of each month after the due date. The amount of such penalty shall not exceed 100% of the amount of the license tax due per Ordinance Number 328, Section 27.
