Manager Nguyen

Manager Thao Nguyen began her career with the Tustin Police Department in 2005 as a Police Records Specialist.  In this position, she worked in the Professional Standards Division where she was responsible for the personnel and training desk.

In April 2008, Manager Nguyen was promoted to Police Records Lead where she provided leadership and guidance to Records personnel to ensure compliance with established Records policies and procedures.  In June 2011, Manager Nguyen was promoted to Records Supervisor where she was responsible for the daily operations and activities of the Records Unit.  In January 2017, she was promoted to Operations Support Division Manager, where she managed the personnel and operations of the Property & Evidence, Fleet, and Records Units.  She also served as the Accreditation Manager for the department's Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) program.  As the Accreditation Manager, she was responsible coordinating and administering activities to establish and maintain the department’s certification.

FIELD Support Division

Manager Nguyen currently oversees the Field Support Division which includes the Police Services Officers/CSI Unit and the Communications Unit. She is also responsible for the department’s budget, grants, Peer Support Team, and the employee wellness program.

Education

Manager Nguyen graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology, Law and Society in 2005. Manager Nguyen is a graduate of the Drucker School of Management Executive Leadership Institute in 2019.  In 2021, Manager Nguyen obtained her Masters of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego.
