Fleet Maintenance

The Fleet Maintenance Division purchases, services, repairs, and salvages most City vehicular equipment. 

Maintaining Vehicles & Equipment

This division maintains approximately 150 vehicles and 260 miscellaneous pieces of equipment, and includes such diverse items as:

  • Commercial lawn mowers
  • Landscape equipment
  • Light and heavy duty trucks
  • Sedans
  • Street sweepers
  • Utility and street maintenance trucks

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Division's primary function is to maintain the value of the City's vehicle/equipment inventory through periodic inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair. 

OTHER FUNCTIONS

The Fleet Maintenance Division maintains the City’s fuel dispensing facility and emergency generators, as well as provides emergency roadside service for all City vehicles. Other functions include: 

  • Annual smog inspections
  • Biennial Inspection of Terminals (CHP required)
  • Quarterly commercial vehicle safety inspection (DMV required)
  • Related record keeping for compliance purposes
