City Attorney

Responsibilities

The City Attorney is responsible for representational advice to the City Council, the Successor Agency to the Tustin Community Redevelopment Agency, Boards, Commissions, and all City officers and staff in all matters of law pertaining to the City.

These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Annually handling other assignments involving necessary legal work
  • Attending City Council, Planning Commission and other board meetings as needed
  • Weekly agenda preparation and review of items that come before City Council and Planning Commission

In addition, the City Attorney is responsible for all City code enforcement and litigation services. 

Law Firm Contract

The City of Tustin contracts with the law offices of Woodruff, Spradlin and Smart to provide city attorney services. While David E. Kendig is currently designated as the City Attorney, a large number of other attorneys and professional staff at Woodruff, Spradlin, and Smart provide city attorney services for Tustin.
